Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
